English term 1

In English this term, we have done many things. We usually start our day with this thing called the big question. The big question is a task where the teacher gets us to write our opinion or story on a question or picture in 5-10 minutes. Our aim is to get over 100 words and this has helped us to think on the spot and write our thoughts. A the end of each period we also usually do a success ticket. The success ticket is just us evaluating our work and I think its good because then why know what we've have done and what we can improve in the future.

This is my first big question:

For the work this term we have been doing the hero cycle. We started off writing about our hero or someone who could be a hero to some people and we had to make a poster for our hero. I choose Gandhi. We had to write facts about our hero and why they are our hero. On my poster I put links on pictures where you could go to find a website about Gandhi or me writing something about him We then went onto the hero cycle which was about a cycle that every hero movie follows and we did some other stuff.

                                                                This is my hero poster

On the 9th of April all the year 9's went to Kumara. At Kumara we did various activities such as re-enacting things that have happened in Kumara's history, looking at the Londonderry rock and some other things. With the re-enactment thing my group chose to act out a mining accident. The next thing we did was go to the londonderry rock which was the best thing in my opinion. The next thing we did was a bunch of reading about stuff that happened in Kumara, and our last activity was a game. In the game there were tennis balls symbolising gold and there were two teams that had to try to get the most gold in a bucket in the time they had. The Kumara trip was alright.
